Where To Bet On Donald Trump: Odds & MarketsMay 14, 2018 9:00 am
Ah, Donald Trump the gift that keeps on giving – provided of course that the gift you are looking for is a racist, sexist orange painted man with tiny hands.
In which case, shame on you. There are far better gifts in the world, like puppies and vouchers for all you can eat Chinese buffet.
There is one group of people who have can afford a grudging liking for him however – us gamblers, as surely no US president has ever come with so many betting markets to take advantage off.
It’s not just the sheer number of opportunities to bet on him however in which he excels – it’s the fun of some of the markets too! Who’d have thought that having a president who’s first term has contained all the grace, humility and appeal of a burning dog poo bin would have such incredibility fun betting markets dedicated to him?
It will frankly almost be a shame when his term is up… that is of course, assuming that he manages to make it the whole way through…
Where to Bet?
Donald Trump Impeachment Betting Markets & Odds
Betting on impeachment for the Donald is such a popular flutter that it is actually split across several markets:
Will Trump Be Impeached In His First Term?
- Yes – 5/4
- No – 4/7
So, straight off the bat, just look at how close those odds are, and low are the odds that he will be impeached!
It is a fact that Americans grow tired of their president’s pretty quickly. One of the main reasons, and as Trump is starting to learn now, is the fact that Presidents don’t actually have all that much power. Almost everything they want to achieve must be signed off by Congress and the Senate -meaning that progress can often be at a snail’s pace and disillusionment, especially after big promises have been made but not delivered, can kick in pretty quick.
A good yard stick for a President is how long they can last before their approval rating dips below 50%. The record holder is Bill Clinton, who managed 573 days – over a year – with more than half of Americans approving of his presidency.
How long did Trump last before he dipped below 50%?
Just let that sink in for a moment.
Year That Trump is Impeached
- 2018 – 11/4
- 2019 – 7/1
- 2017 – 18/1
- 2020 – 50/1
Yes, because frankly the odds we see just for impeachment are pretty low, right? If you believe that he will be impeached and you are set on making some scratch off it, then really you need to be betting on the year that it is going to go down.
As you can see, 2020 has particularly long odds. Why is that? Well, for one thing perhaps the bookies are just not that confident that he’ll make it that far. But on the other hand, 2020 is an election year, with the next US president being elected on the 3rd November, 2020. Would he Republican Party (who control the Senate and Congress) take the risk of ousting him in an election year?
What will be Trump be impeached for?
- Treason – 2/1
- Perjury – 4/1
- Tax Evasion – 16/1
- Bribery – 20/1
Finally, if you really want to build the accumulator from hell, then why not combine the year of impeachment, with what it is he is actually impeached for?
It is a wonderfully fun looking little list, and I’m sure a man (and I use the term loosely) such as Trump would take great pride in achieving any one of those lofty goals.
Other Funny Trump Betting Markets
Oh, but wait! That’s not all the fun of this fair, not by a long shot! The revolving cast of lunatics that accompany Trump also come with their own markets should you feel like branching out a little.
So whether it is his family, his foreign allies and enemies or even his interaction with relatively normal world of professional sports (normal compared to Trump) then there are some juicy opportunities out there, such as:
Melania Trump Specials
This is kind of a weird market, as Melania seems to have been replaced by a body double. So, are we betting on her actions, or those of this mysterious replacement?
Does it really matter?
- Melania to be revealed to be living with another man in Trumps first term – 8/1
- Melania to leave Trump in 2017 – 12/1
- Melania to be deported in 2017 – 66/1
- Melania to run for president against Trump in 2020 – 200/1
Now, I don’t know about you but it is the last option on there that really gets me going! I absolutely hate to think about it, but that really is the only Trump on Trump action I’d like to picture.
Trump & Russia
The Trump administration and Russia seem to have something of a… complicated relationship shall we say. On the advice of our lawyer, we’ll leave it at that.
To that end though a number of markets have sprung up to take advantage of this “special relationship,” such as:
Trump to have a Russian Airport named after him – 66/1
Trump to visit Russia during 1st term:
- Yes – 11/10
- No – 4/6
Trump to be caught visiting prostitutes in the Moscow Ritz – 100 /1
I mean, take your pick from that. I guess, the final bet can’t happen unless the second one has already come in, so you might as well lump them together as a mini accumulator.
God, this is depressing.
Trump and North Korea
Kim Jong-un is a another world leader who Trump seems to have a special relationship with – in this case a desperate race to see who can be the worst leader of their respective countries.
Because of this close connection, there are a number of markets available involving the two men (and again, I use the term loosely):
Kim Jong – Un to erect a statute of Donald Trump in North Korea in 2017 – 66/1
What the point of this would be, I frankly have no idea at all. Target practice for the next missile they launch?
Kim Jong – Un to challenge Donald Trump to a round of Gold to settle their differences in 2017 – 80/1
Perhaps Trump himself is wary of this one, which is why he spends so much time down the golf course instead of, you know, running the country?
Mind you, since Kim has only played one round of golf in this entre life, but still managed to score 18 holes in one, then perhaps Trump needs the practice before the big grudge match.
Next Sports Event Trump Attends in person
- MLB – 4/6
- NHL – 5/4
- NBA – 8/1
- NFL – 16/1
- English Premier League – 25/1
No surprise that the two most likely options are the whitest sports in the US. Also, no word on what he plans to do if the entire stadium takes the knee…
